Next Sunday 29 September, at 12:30 p.m., Antaviana editor Juan Gabriel García will take part in the colloquium ‘Editing Documentary Cinema’, as part of the Alcances Documentary Film Festival. The event will take place at the Espacio de Cultura Contemporánea de Cádiz (ECCO) and will offer an in-depth look at the creative process behind the editing of documentaries.
Juan Gabriel García, editor at Antaviana since 2018, has worked on fiction and documentary projects such as Desextinción, Los negociadores and Juan Mariné: Un siglo de cine. His career includes collaborations in series and feature films, establishing himself as a reference in editing inside and outside Antaviana.
This session will features four prominent editors, including Fátima De los Santos (winner of the Carmen Award from the Andalusian Film Academy for Mamacruz), Darío García (Goya nominee for Paco de Lucía: La Búsqueda) and Silvia Moreno (Callejeras), who will also share their experience in the world of audiovisual editing.
During the colloquium, they will discuss the fundamental role of editing in audiovisual narrative and the relationship between directors and editors. The participants will display fragments of their work, revealing specifics about the obstacles encountered during the editing process. This colloquium presents an ideal opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the secrets of these professionals and gain insight into the techniques that propel them towards creative excellence.
This roundtable aims to emphasize the critical role editors play in the creation of a film, especially in the documentary genre. The session, moderated by Mar Ortiz, also an editor, will open a space for debate where the public will be able to resolve doubts and delve deeper into the creative challenges of this art.
